John Nordberg — During the couple of years prior to this book, Dad was doing a lot of seminars — the back book cover states over 100 hours of seminars annually. Well, during his seminars, he would get asked a ton of questions. A large percentage of the audience questions would start out like this: “Well I hunt in corn…”, “I hunt in bluffs in Wisconsin…”, “I know where a big buck hides out in a swamp…” and so on. He had great tips specific to every kind of terrain the audience asked about. I think that was the genisis of this book. This book answers all those classic terrain questions. For example, in hilly or mountainous areas, do you know which way your scent will most likely flow up or down hill during the morning, afternoon, and evening? This is very important for hunting tactics. The tip is on page 86 — I double-checked. This last year — 2004 — during his hunting school, a student asked questions about how to hunt a big buck out in a swamp. Dad's tips helped that hunter. I heard he got that big buck. Finally, Chapter 9 is a great summary of important whitetail hunting tips. In this chapter, he also explains the “Gentle Nudge” technique. This is a great technique. I would guess about 25% of our bucks have been taken with this method of hunting — almost always during midday when, normally, your odds are not as good. Right now Dr. Nordberg is out of stock of this edition. Watch for it on eBay. Check with hunting bookstores — they might still have some in stock. Maybe it will go through another printing someday.
